Stainless Steel Turnbuckles and Rigging Screws

How do Turnbuckles work?

Turnbuckles create tension and so as they consist of a frame or pipe with a threaded eye bolt either end. One with a left-hand thread and the other with a right-hand thread. When the frame (or pipe) is rotated the eye bolts are screwed in (or out) thereby shortening the length of the unit and tensioning what ever they are attached to, such as a wire rope balustrade or yachts rigging.

What are the different types of Stainless Steel Turnbuckles and Rigging Screws?

Turnbuckles have an open frame and at each end could have a combination of hooks, eyes or jaws depending on the application. Closed frame or ‘Pipe’ turnbuckles are also often called ‘Rigging Screws’.

How are Stainless Steel Turnbuckles measured?

Stainless Steel Turnbuckles are measured by the thread diameter of their eye bolts. Consideration also needs to be given to the Turnbuckle Breaking Loads and Dimensions.
