Stainless Steel - Tube & Pipe Fittings
Pipe Clamps, Tube Clamps, Munson Rings (Pipe Hanger Brackets), U Bolts in Stainless Steel
The Stainless Pipe Clamps and Stainless Tube Clamps are two piece clamps shaped in the form of a letter C that is hinged at one end and held together at the other end by a bolt and nut. There is also a range that has a threaded boss on one half of the clamp. It is made from a length of stainless flat bar of robust nature. These clamps are for heavy duty work. The Munson ring is also a two piece clamp that is bolted at both ends similarly to the pipe clamp and has a boss on one half. It is manufactured from lighter gauge sheet metal so is suited to lighter service than the clamps.
How Stainless Pipe Clamps, Stainless Tube Clamps and Munson Rings (Pipe Hanger Brackets) work:
The clamps and Munson Rings are used to hold a pipe/tube or round bar on to either a flat bar or bracket so that the pipe is restrained from moving or to hold some attachment to the pipe. It is tightened up by the one or two nuts that are on the ends of the Pipe Clamp, Tube Clamp or Munson Ring. The range that has a boss on one half of the clamp that is tapped to take a metric stud is normally employed as a hanger from the ceiling to hold the pipe up. It is normally accompanied with a flat flange that also has a corresponding boss so a threaded rod can be cut to the desired length. Fire sprinkler pipes are a good example that we all see.
Types / Styles : There are 2 types of Pipe Clamps and Tube Clamps and the Munson Ring range held by Anzor.
All 3 types are broadly in two categories;
(a) Pipe Clamp; the Pipe Clamp and Pipe Clamp with Boss is formed so that it fits neatly over the outside of the stated pipe size. Note; Pipe is measured by its nominal bore size not it’s outside diameter.
(b) Tube Clamp; the Tube Clamp and Tube Clamp with Boss is formed to fit neatly over the outside of the tube. Note; Tube is measured by its outside diameter and is normally of a thinner walled nature.
How to Identify Pipe Clamps and Tube Clamps:
All of the clamps are identified by the pipe or tube size that it will pass over and tighten up on and the grade. The backing plates that fit the Munson rings are normally 10mm but for very large diameter tubes and pipes a 12mm boss is available.
Where are Stainless Pipe Clamps, Tube Clamps and Munson Rings (Pipe Hanger Brackets) used:
Used mainly for retaining pipes or tubes to some form of bracket or to hang the pipe from the ceiling. Only the size of pipe or tube is required for selection of clamp. Boss thread size is normally 10mm so 10mm Threaded Rod is a standard. Backing plate thread size is also required.
Stainless Steel U Bolts
The U Bolt is used to hold a pipe/tube or round bar on to either a flat bar or bracket so that the pipe is restrained from moving or to hold some attachment to the pipe. It is tightened up by the two nuts that are on both ends of the U Bolt.
Types of U-Bolts in Stainless Steel
The Marine Fitting U Bolt types are not sized for pipe or tube. The shouldered style is used for pulling points on the stem or transom of a boat and all have the same size u but with different lengths. The lugged type is for general use.
